Growing note

Growing Marigold in Indian apartments
Powdery mildew and root rot both show up far more in monsoon humidity than in the dry, sunny weather marigold usually gets credit for tolerating so well, a stretch of overcast, damp days is genuinely the plant's weakest season rather than its strongest. Deadheading spent blooms as soon as they fade, rather than leaving them on the plant, makes a real difference to how long the flowering season runs, since a marigold left to form seed heads redirects its energy there and slows down on producing new buds noticeably within a couple of weeks. French marigold, the compact, dwarf type, suits a small pot or windowsill box far better than African marigold, which grows tall enough to need a genuinely large container and often some staking once wind catches the top-heavy flower heads on an open balcony. Both types are easy from seed, but French marigold flowers faster, often within six weeks, useful for a quick seasonal display between other plantings.
